Modular System (Featuring Unavailable Modular Parts)
I purchased this case on a Black Friday sale, loved the look of it, but especially loved the touted "FreeForm Modular System, which promised easy changes in setup and physical configuration, with additional parts available for purchase on the Cooler Master Website. In the 18 months since I purchased this case, these parts have been nearly impossible to acquire. I intended to add 2 additional 2.5" SSD Pockets, but this product has only been available on their NA website for perhaps 1 month of the last 18. First their website was being redone, okay, understandable, they couldn't list them there, maybe I could find one at MicroCenter, Amazon, or Newegg. Nope, completely out of stock, no information on when new stock would be coming in. I contacted Support, hoping to at least get an answer as to why they weren't in stock or when they might be back, and they had nothing to offer me. The only parts I could find were at least twice as much as they should be and were from Southern Africa, in a currency I had never heard of. Finally the website was back up and the product existed, so I said, okay, I'll order some SSD's and 2 sleeves and finally have all the storage I could want. By the time I went back to look, the website was "Unavailable while they did inventory." Okay, I can wait until the end of the weekend (it was a Saturday). On Monday, they were again gone. Previously I could follow a link from the MasterCase5 Pro description sheet to each of the modular items, but with the most recent update of the website, these links are now dead. Has CoolerMaster abandoned this line of products? If so, why are they still listed in the description? If not, when will they be available? Is there a production problem? Is there an import problem? Is there a lack of raw resources? I have no idea, but as it stands, I have no interest in purchasing from CoolerMaster again. Their customer support team was unhelpful and not able to help answer any of my questions and their product, though fine, has been a deep disappointment.
